Norwegian 4x4 is a workout timer app for iPhone and Apple Watch. We take a privacy-first approach: the app works on your device, and your data is not sent to us or to anyone else. Any feature that shares your data with another service will always be something you choose to turn on.
With your explicit permission, Norwegian 4x4 reads and writes the following via Apple HealthKit:
This data is stored in Apple Health on your device.
The app also keeps a history of your completed workouts (date, duration, per-phase and heart-rate summaries) in local storage on your device so you can review past sessions in the app. This local history stays on your device and is not transmitted to us or to anyone else.
From your workout data, the app calculates fitness metrics on your device — for example, your heart-rate recovery after each interval. These are for your own use, not medical measurements, and they are calculated and stored on your device.
When the app saves a completed workout to Apple Health, it also attaches that workout’s detail (the per-phase breakdown and the calculated metrics above) to the workout entry in Apple Health. This keeps your workout detail intact if you reinstall the app or move to a new device. That information lives in Apple Health on your device, alongside the workout itself.
As of this version, Norwegian 4x4 does not transmit your personal data off your device:
Any future feature that shares your data with another service (for example, connecting an external fitness service) will be strictly opt-in and started by you.
Health data accessed through HealthKit is used solely to display workout metrics to you in real time and to save completed workouts to Apple Health.
Your health data is never sold or used for advertising or marketing. It is used only to provide app features to you, and it is never shared with anyone without your explicit action.
Norwegian 4x4 does not track you across apps or websites. The app does not use the App Tracking Transparency framework because there is nothing to track.
The app does not integrate with any third-party services, APIs, or SDKs that process user data.
The app does not knowingly collect any information from anyone, including children under 13.
Norwegian 4x4 stores your preferences (age, heart rate max, workout settings) and your in-app workout history locally on your device. Workout data is also saved to Apple Health, which is managed by iOS separately from the app.
You can delete an individual workout from your in-app history at any time from the History screen, or delete your entire in-app history at once from Settings. Uninstalling the app removes your preferences and your entire local workout history from your device.
Workouts saved to Apple Health are managed by iOS and remain in Apple Health after the app is uninstalled — including the workout detail the app attaches to them. To delete them, open the Apple Health app, navigate to Browse > Activity > Workouts, and delete individual entries; deleting a workout there removes its attached detail with it. There is no account to delete because the app does not create accounts.
